How To Setup an Exchange Account on Microsoft Entourage 2008

Welcome to yet another quick visual how to, on adding an Exchange account to your shiny new Mac!

Note: that this will not work on the Student & Teacher Edition of Microsoft Office 2008 for the Mac.

Ok, lets start

1) Go to the Microsoft Office 2008 Folder in your Applications Folder, and start Entourage

2) If this is the first time you are starting Entourage, you may get a window like the one below, in which case, simply close the window.

3) Click on the Entourage menu in the top left, and select “Account Settings”

4) Click on the New Button in the top left of this new window.

5) Click on “Configure Account Manually”

6) Select Exchange from the “Account Type” dropdown, and click Ok

7) Enter in an account name (name of your company would be good), your name, your email address and the account information provided to you by your administrator. Enter the exchange server name or ip into the exchange server section. Check the box that reads “This DAV service requires a secure connection (SSL).”

8) Switch to the Advanced tab, and enter the same exchange server name as you entered in step #7. Check the box that reads “This DAV service requires a secure connection (SSL).”

9) Click Ok

10) Close the Accounts window. After a short period of time, you may see such a warning

Simply click OK.

11) All Done!

Note: You may continue to see the popup in step #10 each time you start entourage. If you do, its safe to ignore this warning. It just means that your exchange server is using a self signed certificate.
