Testing posts from Windows Live Writer

So this is kind of cool. Microsoft’ Windows Live Writer appears to be able to post straight into WordPress blogs. If this post works, then i think thi is a great free product that will help people immensely. NO more having to open web pages, and send up boring attachments via form uploads and things.

Update: It does work, and it appears you can go back and edit the posts as well. I’ll have to see how the categories can be assigned. Undetermined, there’s a category section below the main text editing. Very nice Microsoft! Very nice!

Quick way to enable Visual Studio Permissions using Caspol.exe

I’ve ran into this a few times, where i’ve started building console/windows apps in Visual Studio 2005/2008 and the development machine i’m running on, doesnt have permissions to execute programs from a network share and access (for example) the registry or a sql server. The solution is to tell .net that its ok to let things running from that network share, to access the registry or sql server.

The normal, and proper way to do it is using the .net 2.0 SDK and tell it the paths which are allowed full trusts, however, the .net 2.0 SDK isnt fully installed with VS2k5 or VS2k8, and thus you are stuck.

No more, type in the following, replacing <PATH> with either a drive\directory or a \\share\directory and you’re set.

caspol -m -ag 1 -url <PATH> FullTrust

Update: easy quick way to let your local servers get fulltrust

caspol -m -ag 1 -zone intranet FullTrust

Austria Vs Poland

Austria are still in the tournament after a lucky decision in their favor in the dying moments of this game.

In a way, you can call it justice. Poland were awarded a goal that was clearly offside in the first half. At the end of the 2nd half, in stoppage time, Howard Webb awarded a very soft penalty to Austria, who used the opportunity to tie up the game.

Nothing else really happened in this game, except we did see that Austria do have some shooting boots. But i doubt they will poise any problem to Germany in the final game, which Germany have to win.

Croatia Vs Germany

Germany fell today. My day was devastated after waking up to see Germany loose 1-2 to Croatia, a team that have beaten them before in an eerie looking game resembling 1998.

Podolski got the loan goal for Germany, and thats the only thing i’ll say on this game.

Switzerland Vs Turkey

Switzerland were the first team knocked out of the tournament, after a very entertaining game againt Turkey in Group A.

Switzerland lost the game 1-2, after failing to keep the lead. The game started, and then it rained. Not just rained, it poured. It poured a for quiet a while, making hte pitch slow, and sluggish. Switzerland thanked the skies for this, as it fell into the style of play they wanted to play – slow and comfortable. This allowed them to get the first goal. A cross from the right, passed into Yakin. The ball skipped once in the goal keepers box, and came to a stand still 1 yard away from Yakin.

Switzerland kept trying to get the second, but failed to do so before the half. During he half, the grounds men were able to take of a lot of the surface water, which made the game more playable for the turks, who were able to score two goals to win the game.

Czech Republic Vs Portugal

Portugal won the match 3-1, with a good performance from Deco to pull them through. Deco started the scoring with a simple tap in after a fumble by Czech. Ronaldo had driven himself into the box and started rounding the keeper but Czech stopped him, and fumbled into the path of Deco, wh slotted in the early goal.

Minutes later, the Czech republic tied thegame from a set piece, and the game stayed at 1-1 into the half.

In the second half, Ronaldo found some of his skills and was able to smack in a goal from just outside the box, with a stellar finish.

This was a much better performance from both sides, compared to their first games. The Czech Republic did look a lot better with Milan Baros on the field, rather than the aging Koller.

Greece Vs Sweden

Sweden won this game overcoming some poor football by 2 goals. The greeks started the game with a very defensive posture, 5-4-1. This made it extremely difficult for Sweden to penetrate, and it showed for a while. However, Zlatan got a bit of space late in the 2nd half, and fired the game winner in from about 20yards out. An excellent strike.

Greece had plenty of chances as well, had they put away some of them, they would have shown why they were the champions.

Playing in a 5-4-1 relies heavily on needing a goal early, and then defending strongly, or trying to pip a goal in the later stages (as they did in 2004).
